Did a statistical model decide that exactly $250k is rich or is it just a nice round number?
Willis Jeffords asked:
Is there any thought behind the dems’ desire to punish the rich, or is it jealousy in a pretty dress?

Yes. McCAin randomly decided to give average $750,000 tax breaks to the ultra rich Fortune 500 CEO by borrowing money from China which would send the defecit skyrocketting. Our children would pay for the tax breaks McCAin wants to give to Exxon mobils in the world for generations to come

The $250k model puts a target on the backs of every doctor in the country.
What do you think will happen to the cost of health care when Obama raises THEIR taxes?

The number was chosen so as to include the biggest voting block in Obama’s pocket.

250K is rich it is worth I’d say about 120K these days.

Neither. It is a rounding off a figure that can pay for itself. If everyone got a tax cut, then our deficit would skyrocket. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and money for a tax cut has to come from somewhere, especially when we are all kneedeep in debt thanks to Bush.

RICHIE
Yes, there is. 95% of working Americans make LESS than 250,000 net income; and 98% of small businesses make less than 250,000 net income. Since the Bush tax cuts increase the rewards for the top 2% of wage earners and businesses, it makes sense.

Jealousy? Plenty of over 250k makers are supporters of the Democratic party. Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey (oh no, a black person who’s rich! Who’d of thought it?!) Bill Gates just to name a few. So don’t be stupid. Both parties can afford pretty dresses.
250k is already an in place tax bracket.

It is the way the tax brackets are drawn. If you would like to devote your time to forming a better linear formula for calculating the progressivity of the income tax rate you are welcome to it, but people would probably **** having to calculate their tax rate from a formula. It is much easier to just use a chart with distinct brackets.

this is just a clever way for obama to say he’s helping the poor, while really taxing them, too. THINK ABOUT THIS! If he taxes anyone making over 250$k that means Wal Mart will raise its prices. Where do you think most broke democrats are shopping? So this way Obama can tax 100% of the people. Get it?

95% of Americans have earnings that are less than $250,000.
