How is higher taxes for the rich considered socialism?

Obama will not be giving the poor money from the rich. Obama plans to take more TAXES from the rich. Taxes are money for the Government to spend on roads and infrastructure. The poor will not get a handout.. they will just have to pay less money to the Government.
How is that socialism? Can someone explain?

Yes, he will. On his website he talks about increasing benefits to $1,100 to low income dads that pay their child support payments. Also, many low income people will receive tax rebates when they don’t make enough money to even owe taxes.

socialism is government running things for the mindless. I don’t want government providing me with free services, I don’t want government calling the shots. They tax and spend. They can’t keep their hands off money intended for other purposes, look at social security. They have been stealing from that fund for years, and you want to trust them with health care? They want more and more. Eventually we’re going to wind up like France. What ever happened to working hard for your possessions? What’s wrong with someone working harder, having more? Taxing the rich is only going to hurt our economy. Low taxes=higher revenues.

Also I would ask you do you work hard for your money? do you think that its fair that because you work hard (possibly harder than most) for your money that the government gets to come in an say hey, sure you went to school and spent way more time learning to do your profession then that person, but they make less then you so…We’re going to make it even. and then they take YOUR money, not for roads and infrastructure, but for the guy next to you who, probably hasn’t worked as hard. And do they look at the fact that maybe you have a large family to feed no. they just take.

Obama favors cutting taxes for those making under 250k/year.
He favors helping the working classes.
The difference between that socialism is that his plan redistributes wealth in a manner that makes more people rich, which stimulates business for everyone.
Socialism makes everyone poor, and that eliminates any incentive to produce, invent, and invest.

Socialism has nothing to do with taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor. Socialism is government having ownership over production and distribution of services.
All Obama is proposing is that we reduce the tax burden on the lower and middle class and pass it on to people who can afford to pay an increase w/out changing their standard of living.
It is not socialism, no matter what punidts will have you believe.

Spreading the wealth is taking from the rich is morally wrong to begin with.Those people have worked hard to get where they are ….taxing them and taking what they have is ….using those people as a target is a bad economic decision…….

The bottom 40% already pay no net income taxes and get more back from the government than they pay in taxes - thats Socialism. The tax increases arent going to pay only for infrastruture, it will increase giveaways to those dont pay net income taxes.
The funny part is when the top tax rate was 70% in the 1970s, the top 1% paid 20% of the tax burden. Now with rates cut in half, they pay 40% of it. Most people arent all that good at math so they wont understand the irony of the numbers.
Economist Glenn Hubbard of Columbia University points out that in 1970, the highest tax rate was 70%. At that time, the top 1% of income earners shouldered 16.7% of the income tax burden. Now that the rate is at 35%, they shoulder about 40% of the burden.
So basically, if you stick it to the evil rich, you bring in less revenue, less money to hand out. But never mind that. That fact doesn’t matter to the demagogue. You see, Barack Obama’s constituency is less interested in bringing themselves or “the poor” out of poverty, than they are in sticking it to somebody else. Yes, even if they do not benefit at all from the “sticking”, or may even suffer as a result, they still want to do it.

Obama has made it VERY clear that he intends to tax the rich and give it back to lower income people who don’t pay taxes. Have you not heard of Joe the plumber? By the time the Dems finish with this country there will no longer be a middle class. Where will you be? If you’re not super rich and I mean more than just a millionaire and more than just a multi millionaire you will be on the poor end of things and just getting the scraps of the super rich. I suggest you go the the library and study Marxism. Open your eyes, Obama is already starting to threaten everyone who says something that he doesn’t like. How is a tax cut for the rich considered creating jobs and good for the economy, but tax cuts for the lower brackets or letting the bush tax cuts expire socialism?
I never understood why the lower class pays more in ss and other taxes per earned dollar then someone who is in the top bracket.
Also its backwards that capital gains is taxed differently then regular income taxes. Income is income. Some people entirely make their income off of capital gains and to have that money be exempt and a lower % from all the other taxes associated with income is wrong.
We should all pay the same % of taxes on our income.
As for the socialism bit its all they have to run with. Obama has said many and many times again that
95% of WORKING AMERICANS will get a tax cut. McCain supporters keep taking that out of context.
Even McCain said before he ran for 2008 that the Bush tax cuts favored the rich.
Common sense says that if the current program isn’t working you find a new one. Lower capital gains taxes, less regulation and the bush tax cuts obviously isn’t working.
Tell me one thing that McCain differs from bushes economic plan.All McCain has is Obama is the big scary black guy we don’t know anything about who is a raging liberal socialist hell bent on destroying the US an handing it over the muslims.
Why should i vote for the guy who all he has going for him is trying to convince me Obama is scary as a reason to continue to keep republicans and this economy going in the same direction?
As for Joe the Plumber, he owes back taxes and under Obamas plan would receive a bigger tax cut.
Mccains claims that obamas tax plans will effect Joe and other small businesses is crap. How many plumbers do you know make 250k? Not many. Suzy the secretary and Pat the parking attendant don’t even make close to that much.
